Saber más sobre Andrea

  • When did you first become passionate about music, and when did you start playing your favorite instrument?

I started playing the accordion when I was 11, almost by chance and mainly out of curiosity. What began as simple curiosity gradually became a real passion.
Over the years, I continued studying, performing, and exploring different musical styles, eventually becoming a teacher as well. I have now been teaching for about 15 years.
  • What kind of music could you listen to on repeat without ever getting tired of it?

It is difficult to choose just one genre. I especially enjoy Italian music, folk music, and dance music, but also tango, Latin music, French musette, European and American folk, contemporary music, and soundtracks.
In general, I am fascinated by memorable melodies that are strongly associated with the accordion. I love discovering how the same instrument can have such a different character depending on the musical style and tradition.
  • What is the most difficult or surprising lesson you remember?

The most surprising lessons are often those where a student comes to me convinced that they are not musically talented and, after a few lessons, manages to play a melody they thought was impossible.
One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is finding the right approach to help each person overcome their difficulties.
  • In your opinion, what is the most difficult instrument to play, and why?

I don’t think there is one instrument that is absolutely the most difficult. Each instrument has its own challenges.
The accordion is certainly unique because you have to coordinate both hands, control the bellows, and think about melody, accompaniment, rhythm, and dynamics at the same time.
At the same time, once you understand the basics, it can also be very rewarding and relatively accessible. With just a few fundamental skills, you can already play short, complete pieces, which gives you the satisfaction of making music from the very beginning.
  • What are, in your opinion, the keys to succeeding in music (apart from the treble and bass clefs :-P)?

    Consistency, patience, and curiosity.
You don’t necessarily need to practice for hours every day. It is more important to practice regularly and have clear goals. I also believe it is essential to start with music you genuinely enjoy.
That is why in my lessons I like to combine theory, technique, and practice, often using familiar songs as a starting point for learning.
  • Which musicians would you like to improvise with or perform with? Why?

I would really enjoy playing with Walter Losi, a great accordionist specializing in dance music, whom I consider one of the most interesting accordionists in this field in recent years.
I would love the opportunity to experience his playing style and learn from his extensive experience with dance music. Playing alongside a musician of his level would certainly be a great opportunity to learn something new.
  • Tell us a funny or interesting story related to your training or your work!

I remember a student who, when he first started, would often get frustrated with himself because he felt he wasn’t good enough and was learning too slowly.
I simply tried to respect his pace, guiding him step by step and helping him focus on his progress rather than on how quickly he was learning.
Today, after more than five years of lessons, he is still studying with me, has built up his own repertoire, and most importantly, he has a great time playing. And the best part is that he has no intention of stopping!
He is one of the students who has reminded me just how important it is to respect each person’s individual pace when teaching.
  • What makes you a true Superprof that students love?

I think it is mainly my ability to adapt each lesson to the person in front of me.
Everyone has their own pace and their own way of learning. I believe it is important to respect that and guide each student in the way that works best for them, without expecting everyone to learn in exactly the same way or at the same speed.
Some students want to learn to read music, others simply want to play their favorite songs, some are complete beginners, while others want to improve their technique and repertoire.
That is why I try to make my lessons practical, enjoyable, and personalized, with the goal of making students want to pick up their accordion and keep playing even after the lesson.
